Dark Integers and other stories
I’m a fan of science fiction writer Greg Egan, so I got a copy of his short story collection Dark Integers and other stories. He’s a writer of hard science fiction, where the science may be fantastic but still plausible given our current knowledge of the world.
The book is a collection of five stories, where I’ve already read two of them in other anthologies. But they’re still great stories, so I read them again anyways. Greg Egan often bases his stories on speculative concepts that are fantastic and yet not scientifically implausible. While this doesn’t quite mean the scientific ideas used are plausible, they explore interesting ways in which science could go and are very thought-provoking. Some people might not like his books with the lack of over-dramatization or such, but I can’t get enough of his work.
Now I’m waiting for my pre-ordered copy of Incandescence, his new book which should be out by next month.
