Sex and the City
Through a bit of serendipity, I got to watch the movie for Sex and the City yesterday. While at the theater trying to decide what movie to watch, someone approached with tickets to the movie five minutes before it started. Maybe she changed her mind or her date didn’t show up or something, but it made the decision to see the movie easy.
While I waited with some trepidation for the movie to start, having a small fear that it might kill me with an overdose of female fashion and hormones, it turned out that guys can survive the movie after all. Not that it was any significant fear, since I thought of myself as mostly gender neutral in my tastes and quite capable of enjoying typically female-oriented stories (as long as they’re good stories and not mindless ones), but I could have been wrong.
In any case, it turned out to be an enjoyable two and a half hours. While the first half got me a little worried since it looked like it was going to be a short, sappy conclusion to the television series (I didn’t know how long the movie was going in), I need not have feared as the tension mounted starting in the second half. It turned out to be a nice and emotional story, although I did get the feeling that some of the characters were a bit too hyper-sensitive.
